In the heart of Covent Garden, Kitchen Italia is the pre-theatre Italian pasta restaurant. Located within a listed basement site with low brick vaulted ceilings and no daylight the restaurant had to feel bright and inviting during the day and warm and cosy after dark.
Working with Kate Wilkins Lighting Designers, we developed a perimeter minimal bespoke tray system where all the lighting elements where integrated. Linear lighting was used to up-light the ceiling and fun brightly coloured spotlights were positioned to pick-out tables. Over banquette seating beautiful glass pendants were used to add sparkle and cast light onto the ceiling and for intimacy on the long communal table we adapted small post mounted table lamps. Finally, to ensure the success of the restaurant, a stunning wall mounted neon spaghetti was placed at street level to lead diners down the steps and to their destination.
