Wahaca is a collection of vibrant London restaurants offering a market-inspired Mexican street food buzz. We’ve worked closely with their design team and Kate Wilkins Lighting Design at many of their sites, and continued this collaboration at their newest venue in Jean Nouvel’s One New Change building in the heart of London’s City.
Our brief was to evolve Wahaca’s existing lighting features in keeping with Softroom’s signature interior design style, enhancing but being sympathetic to their new surroundings. In Waterloo we highlighted string art, lit feature sleeper walls and blended the lighting with the yellow rope installation in the heart of the main dining space. In the St Paul’s restaurant site we also used unique elements such as street style centenary suspended pendants that crossing the entire space, highlighted graffiti artworks, a back lit puzzle wall and illuminated hanging chains with a fine jewellery feel.
